You've Got Mail!

The preschoolers in Imagine That! this week will be discussing mail and creating pretend letters. It's a great pre-literacy activity that among other things helps emphasize the importance of the written world in our world.

I've been so excited for the class to reach this unit because it means I get to recommend a rather inventive children's book:

The Jolly Postman by Allan and Janet Ahlberg.
This delightful little book includes a series of letters between fairy tale characters such as Goldilocks, the Giant from Jack and the Beanstalk, and Cinderella. Even better, there are actual envelopes to open with letters inside to pull out and read.
